Two motorcyclists dead in separate crashes

Two motorcyclists have been killed in separate crashes this afternoon.

One was killed when their bike and a ute collided on Kaiaua Road near Mangatangi, in north-eastern Waikato.

Emergency services were alerted about 1.40pm.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, while another person suffered minor injuries.

Another motorcyclist has died following a crash on West Coast Road, Makarau about 1.30pm.

The person died at the scene.

Police are asking motorists to avoid both areas while roads are closed and diversions are in place.

Investigations into the causes of the crashes is ongoing.
