Tanker explosion at the Ogun
Three people were charred to death and several others injured when a petrol tanker exploded in Abeokuta, Ogun County, on Tuesday morning.
Five cars and two bikes were also destroyed in a burning tanker fire.
A blast was heard about 8.00 a.m. along the famous IBB Boulevard, Kuto-Oke-Ileweo Lane, where CBN and GT Bank are located.
It was discovered to be a fuel tanker fire that erupted in the field, with fireballs enveloping the atmosphere.
The fuel tanker fire engulfed the cars closed to the tanker, and three people were burned to death.
The members of the Ogun State Fire Service were at the scene to combat the burning hell.
People in the region were running for cover.
Commissioner for Special Duties, Femi Ogunbanwo, who was on the scene, said the rescued victims had been taken to hospital and had been treated at the expense of the government.
He further assured that the enquiry was underway into the cause of the incident in order to deter the recurrence of the incident.
