The bearer party lifted the duke’s coffin from its resting position in the castle’s inner hall and walked towards the state entrance to begin its journey to St George’s Chapel.
The Royal Family marched behind the coffin, with Princess Anne and Prince Charles leading the way, accompanied by Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.
As the national anthem played, the Queen’s car arrived at the chapel just before the minute’s silence across the UK. She entered and was greeted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
At noon, hundreds of spectators watched as the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery marched up the Long Walk to Windsor Castle.
Dozens of riders rode up to the castle’s Cambridge Gate, wearing black, gold, and red uniforms and holding three weapons.
The photos below show how the ceremony proceeded.
