Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a man at a house in Ōtāhuhu.
The man, who was in his 70s, died at the scene.
The tragedy occurred around 9 p.m. at a residence on Princess Street East. According to officials, the victim was shot with a gun.
Overnight, police cordons and scene guards were in place.
A post-mortem examination will be performed tomorrow.
Police, according to Detective Inspector Chris Barry, would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything strange in the vicinity.
He added the victim’s family was supporting police with their investigations to determine what transpired.
“At this stage we are working hard to piece together the facts as we know it so far.
“We are also providing support to the victim’s family.”
