Mt Eden prisoner missing after being granted leave for tangihanga

Police are searching for a prisoner who failed to return after being granted compassionate bail to attend a relative’s tangihanga.

There are a number of warrants for the arrest of Daryl Hemopo, who was meant to return to Mount Eden Corrections Facility, Inspector Dave Glossop said.

The 27-year-old has warrants for charges including aggravated robbery, indecently assaulting a female over the age of 16, and assaulting police.

Hemopo is 161cm and of thin build. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone who sees Hemopo should call 111, or if they have information, call Constable Olivia Gregory on 105 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
