On Sunday, Mexico’s health ministry announced 1,578 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the nation, as well as 36 new fatalities, bringing the total to 2,477,283 infections and 231,187 deaths.

The government has stated that the true number of cases is likely far higher, and independent statistics revealed in March showed that the actual death toll is at least 60% greater than the verified total.
