On Tuesday, Disney published the teaser for the forthcoming animated flick Ron’s Gone Wrong. The film, produced by Locksmith Animation and 20th Century Studios, will be released on October 22nd.
The B-Bot, a personal robot companion in the guise of a sentient iPhone, is introduced in the trailer. Ron (voice of Jack Dylan Grazer) receives a faulty B-Bot from Barney (voice of Zach Galifianakis).
Ron’s flaws generate problems for Barney. When Ron is supposed to discover Barney’s name, he keeps calling him “Registered Name” and he strangles a chicken in the kitchen.
Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith, Rob Delaney, Kylie Cantrall, Ricardo Hurtado, Marcus Scribner, and Thomas Barbusca provide additional voices. Jean-Philippe Vine, co-director, worked as a narrative artist on Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out, as well as directing episodes of Shaun the Sheep.
Vine will be working alongside Locksmith co-founder Sarah Smith. Smith co-wrote, co-directed, and co-produced Arthur Christmas, as well as The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
The third co-director is Octavio Rodriguez. His animation credits include the story departments of SpongeBob Squarepants, CatDog, Monsters University, Coco and Incredibles 2. Rodriguez directed episodes of the Captain Underpants TV series.
