A tiny plane crashed in Russia’s Kemerovo area in southern Siberia on Saturday, killing four passengers and injuring four more, according to the local emergency medical service.
According to the TASS news agency, at least seven persons were killed when the twin-engine L-410 crashed near the Tanay airfield, which offers parachuting services.
According to the local prosecutors’ office, the crew made a distress call due to engine failure.
According to a medical services spokeswoman, the injured are being evacuated to hospitals.
Pictures on social media showed the badly damaged jet with an ambulance nearby.
A spokesman at a Siberian branch of Russian civil aviation agency Rosaviatsia said a search and rescue operation was under way, declining to provide details.
