The Phoenix Suns defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 118-108 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night in Arizona, bringing them two victories away from their first title in club history.
In the win, Booker hit 12-of-25 from the field, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, as Phoenix took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. The third game is scheduled on Sunday night at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
“We had the lead going into the fourth quarter, and we wanted to hold that,” Booker said. “… We just wanted to win the game at all costs.”
Mikal Bridges scored 27 points and seven rebounds for the Suns, who were also led by veteran point guard Chris Paul’s 23 points and eight assists. Both Deandre Ayton (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Jae Crowder (11 points, 10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles.
The Suns overcome Bucks standout Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 42-point performance. In the defeat, the two-time NBA MVP went 15-of-22 from the floor and had 12 rebounds and three blocks.
For the Bucks, Jrue Holiday had 17 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Pat Connaughton scored 14 points off the bench and Khris Middleton got 11 points on 5-of-16 shooting.
The second game of the championship series will begin at 8 p.m. EDT on Sunday in Milwaukee.
