Covid-19 update: Five new cases in New Zealand – three community cases, two imported

There have been five new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand today – three in the community and two imported, Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield has revealed.

The three new community cases have all been linked to the Auckland cluster.

The two new imported cases are children who came from India.

Dr Bloomfield revealed the latest numbers at today’s regular media conference, with the prime minister also revealing that the country’s alert levels will remain in place for more than another week.

Six people are now in hospital with the coronavirus – including two in intensive care in Middlemore and Waikato Hospitals.

There are 112 cases of Covid-19 in the country at present, with eight moer people recovering from the coronavirus.

Dr Bloomfield said 3191 close contacts of the Auckland cluster had been identified, and 3136 had been contacted.

He said the Covid-19 app was now being used by 2,000,0088 people.

Two new cases of Covid-19 were announced yesterday, including one which was a community case and has been linked to the Auckland cluster.
