Child seriously injured by dog in Taranaki

A child has been taken to Starship Hospital in Auckland in a serious condition after being attacked by a dog in north Taranaki.

Emergency services were called to Wai-iti Beach about 1:15pm and found the injured child.

A helicopter was sent to take them to Auckland.

It is not yet known what type of dog was involved in the attack.
