BTS continues to break records with its new album, “Butter,” which topped Spotify’s single-day streams chart and became the fastest music video to cross 200 million views on YouTube on Tuesday.
The English-language summer dance-pop single, which was released on Friday, surpassed 200 million views in less than four days and one hour, according to BTS’ production firm, Big Hit Music, on Tuesday. The feat sets the boy band’s previous record, which was set last August with the hit single “Dynamite,” which reached the top spot in four and a half days.
The video was watched 108.2 million times in its first 24 hours on YouTube and received 3.9 million concurrent views at its premiere, also surpassing records held by “Dynamite,” the group’s previous English-language track.
On Spotify, the world’s largest streaming platform, “Butter” received more than 20.9 million streams on the first day of its release, the highest number ever.
The septet’s new record-breaking achievement follows a strong Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, where BTS performed “Butter” remotely and won four trophies for top duo/group, top album sales artist, top social artist, and top selling song.
“Butter” also swept to the top of iTunes charts in over 100 countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada and Germany, as well as local music charts in South Korea and Japan.
BTS’s publicity push for the new single will continue this week, with an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday and a performance to kick off the Good Morning America summer concert series on Friday.
The group, which consists of members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, will hold an online fan event on June 13 and 14 to commemorate its eighth anniversary.
