Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has chastised Nigerians, accusing them of placing too much emphasis on the outcome of Big Brother Naija.
Omokri suggested that by casting over a billion votes during the show, Nigerians gave more importance to something that should have gotten less of their attention.
He bemoaned that the money raised by such a large number of votes would almost certainly be sent to South Africa, the home of DSTV and GOTV.
The former presidential aide noted that he has never seen Nigerians donate money if a honest, capable presidential aspirant needs it.
“1 billion votes! I can’t even begin to imagine how much money DSTV and the BBNaija organisers made,” he tweeted.
“Money that will be transferred to their home country, South Africa. Meanwhile, we Nigerians won’t donate money if a honest, capable Presidential aspirant needs it.”
