The collisions took place Friday night in Laiska Canal in the Brahmanbaria district, India Today reported.
Local police Superintendent Md Anisur Rahman told Anadolu Agency the passenger boat hit by two sand-laden bulkheads, which was traveling in the opposition direction. The passenger boat, which sank, was carrying more than 100 passengers, Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Hayat Ud Dowlah Khan said.
“Total 22 bodies were recovered as of Saturday morning from the tragedy site,” Rahman said. “The search and rescue efforts are being made from the second day as we fear that some people are still missing.”
