White House disavows past ties between Epstein, President Trump & Secretary Acosta

Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway is defending President Trump and Labor Secretary Alex Acosta after renewed scrutiny over their history with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Conway spoke to reporters outside the White House Tuesday, and disavowed any ties between Epstein and the president. She said they haven’t spoken to each other in years, and then refuted calls by Washington officials for the labor secretary to resign.

This comes as reports said Acosta secured a so-called “sweetheart deal” for Epstein in 2008, which led to him avoiding federal charges and possible life in prison for the sex-trafficking of minors.

“The president told me this morning that he hasn’t talked to Epstein, he doesn’t think he has talked to Epstein or seen him in 10 or 15 years, and he like everyone else sees these charges, the description of these charges against Epstein as completely unconscionable and obviously criminal, disgusting really,” Conway told reporters. “I think some of your networks frankly, and irresponsibly if I may say so respectfully, are saying ‘Jeffrey Epstein charged for sex trafficking or raping minors,’ and you have a picture of Alex Acosta — so let’s at least get the pictures right.”

Conway also blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi among other Democrats for pouncing on the Epstein scandal to target yet another member of the Trump administration.
