50 Cent must have had better things to do than launch his new champagne.
The “In Da Club” rapper hosted the Red Rabbit Club’s grand opening in
New York City on Saturday, where he launched Le Chemin du Roi Rosé, but
spies told Page Six it appeared he didn’t want to be there.
“He ended up being in the back of the club and basically was just
handing out glasses of his champagne,” the spy said. “He didn’t address
the crowd while I was there.”
Given the rapper’s presence, club attendees had to be patted down upon
entering. But it seems like the security check might not have been worth
it for guests, as the 43-year-old-rapper seemed miffed to be there.
“[His attitude was like] ‘I can’t believe I have to make these whack-ass
club appearances to avoid bankruptcy,’ ” the spy added. “He looked
nice, though, just tired.”
But a rep for the club differed, telling Page Six, “The club was packed.
He had a great time and partied with [owner] Richie Hosein. The crowd
was really happy to see him.”
50 Cent declared Chapter 11 personal bankruptcy in 2015, listing $36
million in debts and less than $20 million in assets. His bankruptcy
drew criticism from the judge, who called him out for posting social
media photos of wads of cash while he claimed to be broke.
In February, Fiddy clarified reports that he made $8 million in bitcoin
after allowing people to buy his 2014 album, “Animal Ambition,” with the
cryptocurrency. He said in court documents that the bitcoin payments
were converted to US dollars by a third party before G-Unit received the
funds.
