Rise of the Tomb Raider Is Feral Interactive's First macOS Game to Support eGPUs

Feral Interactive, the UK-based video games published known for porting lots of popular titles to both Linux and macOS platforms, announced today on Twitter that it now supports eGPUs on Macs.
It's a known fact that eGPUs (external graphics processor units) are quite popular among MacBook users since Apple no longer ships MacBook Pro computers with dedicated graphics cards from Nvidia or AMD, thus making gaming a bit dificult for users, which have to buy a more powerful iMac instead.
However, if you don't have the money to buy an iMac, you can always rely on eGPUs, which come in all flavors and shapes these days from various known manufacturers like Nvidia, Alienware, or ASUS. And now Feral Interactive officially announced that it started supporting eGPUs for its macOS games.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the first game to support eGPUs on macOS
And it looks like the first Feral Interactive Mac game to support external graphics processor units (eGPUs) is Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, which the company ported to macOS on April 12, 2018. A Linux release of the game was available a week later, on April 19.
"We’re happy to confirm that eGPUs are now officially supported in Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft’s epic Siberian expedition," wrote Feral Interactive in today's announcement. "While the increased performance of an eGPU can produce better graphics, there may still be limitations due to the power of your Mac’s CPU."
As Feral Interactive noted in their tweet, you might not experience the full potential of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration or any other game that will get eGPU support if your Mac doesn't have a powerful, recommended processor. Head over to Feral's FAQ page for more information on eGPU support for macOS games.
