Dad holding baby rushes on to stage to save ballet dancing daughter from stage fright… and he steals the show

He's more used to being in the courtroom, but when lawyer dad Marc Daniels, of Bermuda, saw his daughter, Bella, scared on stage he knew exactly what to do... leaping on up to help her

Whoever said men can’t multi-task obviously hadn’t seen this dainty dad in action, as he jumped on stage to perform alongside his stage-fraught daughter - all while clutching another child in his arms.

Self-employed barrister and busy dad-of-three Marc Daniels is no stranger to balancing multiple tasks at once, but he may well have outdone himself on May 29, when his daughter, Bella, started throwing a tantrum on-stage.

Practising during a dress-rehearsal for her first ballet recital in the City Hall of Hamilton, Bermuda, two-and-a-half-year-old Bella began to cry uncharacteristically as she stepped on stage, and Marc was summoned to the wings to try and calm her down.

Clutching his youngest daughter, Suri, under his arm, Marc goes above and beyond the call-of-duty, holding Bella’s hand as he plies, spins and expertly points his toes seamlessly alongside his daughter.

Clearly a natural, Marc’s impromptu performance was met with a rapturous applause by the few teachers and parents in attendance – a reception received with proud wave from the 39-year-old.

Not about to hang up his tutu anytime soon, Marc has been invited back by In Motion School of Dance to perform alongside the girls again, on June 9.

Determined not to detract attention from the girls, but insisting he’ll be waiting in the wings just in case.

Marc said: “When I arrived downstairs, Bella was very emotional and needed hugs from her daddy.

“Despite having a tantrum, I can tell she wanted to stay on stage, and I didn’t want to discourage her before the big performance by making her be the only one to come off.

“I walked on holding Suri and stood next to her, trying to help build her confidence – I told her I loved her and that she’s an amazing dancer.

“I asked if she wanted to dance with daddy and she nodded, so I thought I’d join in."

“I’ve practised with them at home on many occasions so it wasn’t unfamiliar to me," he continued. “At home she’s always dancing, but on Tuesday that energy was clearly lacking – she simply wasn’t having any of it.

“It was definitely instinctive [to jump on stage] and I really didn’t even consider my actions.

“Before having the girls I don’t think I’d ever attempted any ballet moves before, but now everyone in Bermuda knows me for my toe-pointing – maybe it’s never too late to become a ballerina."

“I don’t want to detract from the girls’ attention on their special night, but I am mentally prepared to run on-stage, if necessary, to support Bella.

“Jurors, police officers and members of the prosecution have even been giving me twirls and plies as a token of appreciation for the video.

“Even in court the other day, one of the magistrates made a comment about my moves that prompted the court to erupt into laughter.”

Cute Bella isn't the only person to have suffered stage fright. We previously revealed how megastar Adele was struck hours before Glastonbury.
