Kyle Edmund has joined Sir Andy Murray and Dan Evans in the second round of the Australian Open after a thumping victory over Santiago Giraldo.
The 22-year-old became the third male Brit to reach round two at Melbourne Park and looked in complete control on Court 5.
The world No. 46 never looked like losing against the Colombian and enjoyed a 6-2 7-5 6-3 win over the 29-year-old.
Edmund’s heavy groundstrokes and in particular his forehand were too much for the world No. 91 as the Brit set up a second-round tie with 30th seed Pablo Carreno Busta.
Murray secured his passage to the same stage with a 7-5 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 win over Illya Marchenko, while Dan Evans beat Facundo Bagnis in straight sets.

Evans will now face Marin Cilic in round two, while Murray will take on world No. 152 Andrey Rublev.
