Chelsea captain John Terry extended well wishes to Ryan Mason and his family after the Hull City star suffered a fractured skull at Stamford Bridge.
Mason, 25, is in a stable condition after he underwent an emergency operation following a clash of heads with Blues defender Gary Cahill.
In a statement on Sunday, Hull said: ‘The club can confirm that Ryan Mason sustained a skull fracture in our fixture at Chelsea this afternoon.
‘He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he has undergone surgery.
‘Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days.
‘Everyone at the Club would like to express their sincere thanks for the excellent and swift care given to Ryan by both the Accident and Emergency department and Neurosurgery Unit at St Mary’s Hospital.’
Blues captain Terry took to Instagram to say: ‘I would like to wish Ryan Mason our very best wishes and praying that he will be ok, our thoughts are with Ryan and his family.’
Mason’s boyhood club Tottenham also expressed their support to the 25-year-old, who was carried off on a stretcher during the Premier League clash.
