Chelsea are reportedly the clear favourites to sign Lazio’s Lucas Biglia after several clubs fell out of the running for the midfielder’s services.
Biglia is not expected to sign a new contract at his Italian club and Lazio have now put a £21 million (€25 million) price tag on his head, according to reports in Italy.
The 30-year-old’s decision to stall on a new contract had alerted the attentions of Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, but the current asking price is thought to have put off his Italian suitors.
Biglia would be handed a massive wage increase were he to accept Lazio’s contract extension with his salary jumping from €1.4 million a year up to €2.5 million.

Juventus and Inter are not interested in spending big in the January transfer window which could leave Chelsea with a free run at Biglia.
Biglia has scored twice this season and created 16 chances in Serie A as he has helped Lazio to fourth in the table.
The Argentine’s contract expires in the summer of 2018, but with Biglia so far rejecting Lazio’s contraction advances it is believed they can be persuaded to sell in January.

Chelsea already have some excellent options in the defensive midfielder section with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic both star performers in Conte’s 3-4-3 system.
