To say the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets are headed in different directions would be a drastic understatement.
But before the season began, Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall had optimism. He was feeling so good about the upcoming season that he decided to bet against Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Marshall bet Brown that if Brown had more receiving yards this season, he would give him a Porsche that was parked at the Jets' headquarters. If Marshall beat Brown, Brown would have to surrender his black and gold Rolls-Royce.
"@bmarshall, you could send me the pink slip, or donate the car to @project375! Glad we're both healthy, mentally and physically !! #callgod," Brown tweeted Thursday.
The Jets' All-Pro has 788 yards and three scores on 59 receptions, while Brown has 1,284 yards and 12 touchdowns on a league-high 106 catches this season.
Last season, Marshall had 1,502 yards while Brown had 1,834. Marshall's Project 375 promotes awareness for mental health. Porsche is one of the Jets' official sponsors.
Brown is due $8.71 million next season, while Marshall will make $7.5 million in the final season of his three-year contract.
"He's a man of his word," Brown told reporters Friday. "We'll see if he really comes through. I'll donate his car. I don't need it. I got a lot of cars myself, so I'll just donate it to his foundation."
