Drama and desperation seep from the seams of the Chicago Bears organization these days.
A quarterback carousel, a muddy backfield, and a middle-of-the pack defensive unit have the Bears at 1-6 heading into a Monday Night Football matchup against the juggernaut Minnesota Vikings.
That's why the organization hired an outside consultant to review the team's football operations, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
"With the franchise heading in the wrong direction, the team's brass has begun a full examination of the football operation from top to bottom," Rapoport reported.
Head coach John Fox has two years left on his four-year contract. Bears general manager Ryan Pace has three years remaining on his five-year pact. The Bears hired Fox in January of 2015 after Marc Trestman had a 13-19 record in two seasons at the helm. Fox is 7-16 as the Bears' coach through 23 games.
